All About What I Do and Who I Am
I'm passionate about child care and early years and have worked in the field since leaving school. I have been working freelance for over 10 years, delivering training for many local authorities around the country and in pre school and nursery settings.
I also offer consultancy services working with settings to improve quality and maintain continuous imporvement. For more details see the consultancy services page. I also write books and articles on early years.

Following The Leader
 
This course will consider leadership styles and how to be effective. We will also consider the importance of consistency across the setting, and how this can be achieved and maintained. Consistency relating to delivery of practice amongst practitioners and in their understanding. Consistency is an essential and something which is measured by Ofsted during inspections. ·

There will be opportunity for reflection on own practice, looking at how to develop and move forward.

Promoting Positive Behaviour
 
This course will explore the following aspects of children’s behaviour:
·         The reasons why children may display unwanted behaviour.
·         Effective Practice to promote positive behaviour.
·         Strategies to manage and modify children’s challenging behaviour.
At the end of the course, participants should have a clearer understanding of behaviour and how to manage in the setting.

We Need To Talk: Effective Communication Skills
 
This course will explore effective communication in the setting for managers, leaders, deputies and room leaders with staff teams and with parents.This course will explore:·        
 
  • What is effective communication and how can it be achieved in the setting.     
  • Key methods of communication  
  • Do’s and don’ts and the steps of communication       
  • Basics of assertiveness
 
By the end of the course, participants should feel more confident in communicating and using a variety of strategies.
